Ben Doob is a Managing Principal of Market Metrics and head of the firm’s asset management business in the U.S. Ben works with senior leadership at asset management firms of all sizes, using Market Metrics’ broad range of proprietary data and services to help them to evaluate their competitive position and develop an effective distribution strategy. He leads a wide array of asset management services at the firm, including syndicated research studies, sales intelligence products and software solutions.

Ben joined Market Metrics in 2002. In addition to his current role, he has served in multiple leadership roles for Market Metrics, including Chief Information Officer and later Chief Operating Officer, where he oversaw all firm operations as the firm grew both its product offerings and client relationships. Ben has also worked for McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, where he helped clients design sales and operations strategy.

Ben received his MBA with Honors from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded a Joseph Wharton Fellowship. He received his undergraduate degree from Williams College, where he majored in both Computer Science and Economics.

After spending many years based at the firm’s headquarters in Boston, Ben and his family currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

Rick Berry is a Principal of Market Metrics and manages client relationships in the United States.

Rick has a strong background in insurance and financial services with a deep understanding of distribution. Prior to joining Market Metrics, Rick spent more than 25 years in general management consulting, working primarily with leading Life & Annuity clients on a broad range of business strategy, distribution, sales management, analytics, compliance, competitor and market assessment issues – with an emphasis on growth and performance improvement. He was a Director with Deloitte Consulting and a Principal with Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson).

Rick has been quoted in the business press; has been a frequent speaker before the ACLI, LIMRA, the SOA, the PCI, and other business audiences; and has published many articles and studies on insurance distribution, producer satisfaction, channel management, customer experience, and predictive analytics.

Rick received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his MBA from Columbia University. He lives in New York.

Tim Kresl is a Principal of Market Metrics based at the firm’s headquarters in Boston. He manages client relationships in the Northeastern United States, working with firms to interpret the results of Market Metrics’ research and successfully leverage Local Market Share data.

Tim joined Market Metrics in 2008. During that time he has become a recognized leader in the industry for implementing Local Market Share data to drive sales productivity. He has worked with a range of asset managers to design sales territories, develop optimal rotations, and train wholesalers to leverage data effectively. In addition, Tim has worked with senior managers to develop management tools that measure the effectiveness, productivity and improvement of their sales forces.

Tim has a broad range of experience at Market Metrics, and he has also worked extensively with clients on initiatives related to advisor satisfaction with sales and marketing activities, wholesaler compensation, and sales force staffing and productivity metrics.

Tim completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He currently resides in Arlington, MA.

Shiv Taneja is a Principal with Market Metrics and manages client relationships in the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining Market Metrics, Shiv spent 14 years at Cerulli Associates as a managing director, where he was responsible for the firm’s non-U.S. operations. Shiv was part of the original team that helped found Cerulli’s international operations in London, and then went on to successfully establish the firm’s Asia Pacific business in Singapore in 2005. He returned to London in the autumn of 2008, to re-establish Cerulli’s London unit.

Shiv is a recognized industry authority, commentator, and conference speaker on trends in the global asset management industry, having led and completed numerous large industry-wide studies in the area of market sizing, product development and distribution trends in both the retail and institutional channels.

Before Cerulli, Shiv worked at Standard & Poor’s in its fund ratings unit in London.

Shiv has a Master’s degree in accounting and finance from Bombay University, and is also a U.K. qualified non-executive director.

Scott Yasharian is a Principal of Market Metrics and manages client relationships in the western half of the United States.

Before joining Market Metrics, Scott spent nearly 17 years in sales and management of various Sales and Consulting teams at FactSet Research Systems. His work over this time has encompassed both investment management and investment banking firms. He has worked with many of the largest, global investment firms, using FactSet’s services to help streamline their research and corporate finance processes. Additionally, Scott has extensive experience with many smaller, boutique investment firms. From 2000 to 2003, he was based in Tokyo as President of FactSet’s Asia-Pacific business focusing on client relationships, operations, and FactSet’s corporate strategy.

Scott has held the Chartered Financial Analyst designation since 1996 and is a member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts. He received his degree in Finance from Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Scott resides in Los Angeles with his wife and son.

Lydia Yu is a Principal of Market Metrics and manages client relationships in the Eastern and Midwestern United States.

Lydia began her career in the Business Strategy Services practice of Hitachi Consulting, a global business and IT consulting firm. At Hitachi, she co-authored whitepapers and government-sponsored research studies focused on the retail financial services industry. Lydia also helped develop operations, market entry and M&A strategies for IT and software clients.

Since joining Market Metrics in 2009, she has led the development of several new studies and works closely with senior managers of leading insurance and asset management firms to identify key business issues and facilitate decision-making.

Lydia received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, where she graduated cum laude with honors in History and Sociology. Lydia and her husband live in Boston, Massachusetts.
